Timesheet Management

Timesheet management is more than just producing the sheets and posting them. A good deal of forethought and planning has to be placed in them by the manager of the staff to ensure they work seamlessly as planned.

The first requirement of timesheet management is to cover the basics. This document is to inform the staff of just when and where they are to report so they can accomplish their assigned tasks set forth by their supervisors. There should be a separate timesheet that includes the scheduled vacations of the different personnel so it can be posted on the weekly schedule when appropriate. This way, the staff and the management will be fully aware of who is to report to work each week.

Another part of timesheet management has to include the keeping of all the past schedules as a perment record. This will be used by the accounting department to verify the payroll. This permanent record can also be used if there is ever a discrepancy noted by either the staff or the management in projected hours of work that was scheduled.

The supervisors or project manager can also use the timesheet management to compare the scheduled work hours of each employee with the timecards. This can be used as evidence in reviews when a non-favorable grade is assigned to a worker. This is direct evidence of absenteeism that always leads to low productivity of a worker.

The exact opposite use of timesheet management is another way it can be used. When an employee never misses work and their timecard is exactly what the time sheets shows, then a reward in terms of a raise could be in order. It is a way for a manager to push for a reward for their personnel.

The use of timesheet management is many within a company. This can be for the benefit of the staff and the management. It all depends on how reliable and disciplined the staff is.
