Project Lifecycle Templates
We now have a set of project lifecycle templates for your analysis and design work. This includes:
Business Requirements Report$9.95
The Business Requirement Report describes the major work completed during the Analysis Phase of the project. It is the place where you describe the high-level and functional business requirements, the solution acceptance criteria, process and data models, etc.
The Case Study is used to present a client with a prospectus-type overview of a proposed solution to meet a business opportunity
The Use Case and the Use Case diagram are important analysis tools in the initiation and planning phases of an IT project. What will the resulting solution and its users do in each case? What users might use each case? This analysis answers those questions.
Requirements Review Checklist$9.95
The Requirements Review Checklist describes the criteria to validate for a successful requirements review at the end of the Analysis Phase. You may have more questions to add to this checklist based on your organizational needs.
Requirements Management Plan$6.95
The Requirements Management Plan describes how you will manage the product requirements throughout the project.
This Requirements Spreadsheet is a good place to register Requirements, along with expected effort and weighted factor analysis.
Requirements Traceability Matrix$6.95
This spreadsheet contains a reference to the approved requirements for the solution and then tracks the requirements through the design, construct, test and implementation phase. This ensures that all requirements are included in the final solution and other non-approved functionality is not introduced.
This template describes the processes and checks that need to take place before the solution is considered complete. Gaining agreement on the acceptance criteria ahead of time helps implementation and turnover proceed much more smoothly.
Create an Agenda for a Project Meeting that lets everyone on the team know what to expect and to be prepared for an orderly and productive meeting.
Record Minutes of your Project Meeting showing who attended, what was discussed, and what action items were assigned.
The purpose of this checklist is to point out a number of areas where security may need to be considered as a part of the total solution.
Security Risk Assessment$6.95
This template helps determine the requirements for security and how security will be implemented.
Use SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) to evaluate a project idea or solution. This can be a good team exercise in the Initiation phase of a project.
The Testing Strategy provides overall guidance and direction for the rest of the testing process. Preparing a Testing Strategy helps the project team think through the work at a high level, concentrating on the requirements of the testing events, the approach that will be used, and the resources necessary to complete the testing.
The purpose of the Training Strategy is to define the overall context for training, including who should be trained, what they should be trained in, when the training should take place, etc.
The Implementation Strategy provides an opportunity to work with the client on the overall guidelines and direction associated with implementation.
Data Conversion Strategy$9.95
The Data Conversion Strategy is prepared during the Analysis Phase to define the overall approach to data conversion including timing, techniques, security concerns, etc.
Technical Systems Design$9.95
The Technical Systems Design document is a consolidation of all the component design work that took place earlier in the Design Phase.
Disaster Recovery Manual$9.95
This template includes step-by-step instructions on what needs to happen and in what order. It is possible that the main application support person may not be available in case of a disaster. In that case, another person should be able to take this procedure and recover the application.
The Non-Disclosure Agreement is presented to contractors and vendors to assure that trade secrets learned while serving your project must remain confidential.
Service Level Agreement$9.95
A Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a negotiated agreement that specifies the type of work, quality level, parties involved, and other expectations under which the support organization will provide services to the client organization. An SLA helps identify expectations, clarify responsibilities, and facilitate communication between the parties involved.
Preparing a Testing Plan helps the project team think through the work effort first so that the entire testing process proceeds more smoothly and efficiently. Developing the Testing Plan early helps ensure that the appropriate resources are identified and available when needed for testing purposes.
Before you can start building (or buying) the curriculum, you need to plan the work at a lower level and actually sketch out as much of the curriculum as possible. The Training Plan is a document that can serve this purpose.
The Implementation Plan is used to lay out the details for implementing the solution. It is not written at the level of the workplan details, although you should be able to complete the workplan activities from the content in the Implementation Plan.
This Budget Spreadsheet tracks monthly spending vs budgeted spending and creates a graphic summary of your Project Spending. Entries are made easy with pick lists and results are color coded. Cost types are easy to customize.
Earned Value Spreadsheet$15.95
The Earned Value is a valuable method for monitoring project planned, actual, and completed work value. It shows how much of a project budget and work hours have been used vs. budgeted, and weighs both against remaining work. At any point in time, Earned Value can tell you if your project is winning or losing.
The Project Schedule spreadsheet lets you enter start dates, end dates, and percent complete for each task. It creates a bar graph for each task in the schedule.
The RACI chart is a grid for stating the roles of each person or group involved in a particular step in a project. RACI is an acronym for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed.
Use the Team Evaluation Template to rate individuals and the team on such factors as Client Experience, Communications, Quality of Work, Teamwork, and more.
Data Conversion Plan$9.95
The Data Conversion Plan describes the detailed approach that you need for data conversion and is written at a level that allows the actual activities to be determined and added to the project workplan.
This is an important document that is provided to the users of the system. It should include the proper use of the system's features and functionality and how to resolve common errors.
This template is used to describe test cases that will be needed to ensure the solution performs as expected.
Test Error Log$6.95
This log is used to summarize and track the status of errors that are reported during integration, system and acceptance testing. The errors are reported using the Test Error Report and are cross-referenced to this report with the Test Error ID.
Test Error Report$6.95
This report is used to document errors uncovered in the testing process to ensure that they are reported, tracked and ultimately corrected. This is normally not used for unit testing, unless the tester is someone other than the developer. It is used in integration, system and acceptance testing.
Lifecycle Template Bundle$85.00
This full Lifecycle Template Bundle is only $85 USD for all of the above templates (less than $4 each.)
